Job Summary:
The Manual Therapist plays a vital role in the Sports Medicine department, providing specialized manual therapy services to athletes and sports enthusiasts. This position requires exceptional knowledge and skills in manual therapy techniques, with a focus on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. The Manual Therapist will work closely with the Sports Medicine team to deliver high-quality care and contribute to the overall well-being and optimal performance of athletes.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify musculoskeletal dysfunctions, injuries, and imbalances.
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and in collaboration with the Sports Medicine team.
3. Utilize manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, stretching, and other appropriate interventions to promote healing, improve range of motion, and restore function.
4. Monitor and document treatment progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
5. Educate athletes on injury prevention strategies, self-care techniques, and exercises to enhance performance and reduce the risk of re-injury.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, physiotherapists, and strength and conditioning coaches, to provide multidisciplinary care to athletes.
7. Stay current with the latest research, techniques, and advancements in manual therapy and sports medicine to ensure best practices and quality care delivery.
8. Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, or a related field.
2. Certification as a Manual Therapist or equivalent qualification in manual therapy techniques.
3. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Manual Therapist, preferably in a sports medicine or orthopedic setting.
4. In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, biomechanics, and musculoskeletal injuries.
5. Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilization, soft tissue therapy, and myofascial release.
6. Strong understanding of injury prevention principles and experience in designing and implementing injury prevention programs.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, and other healthcare professionals.
8. Proven ability to assess, diagnose, and develop evidence-based treatment plans for various musculoskeletal conditions.
9. Detail-oriented with exceptional documentation and record-keeping skills.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
11. Valid certification in CPR and first aid.
